What is isolon
Isolon insulating material is used in construction work. It is made in different thicknesses and can be white or foil. In hand-made, an isolon with a thickness of 2 mm is usually used. In height, the created flower lamp can be like a table lamp or a large floor lamp. The manufacturing methods are also different - you can attach the petals to the finished shade or attach it to the sleeve.
In the store, you can find the following isolon options:
- Unstitched. The material does not go through the stage of special processing, so its price is affordable.
- Stitched. It has improved properties due to processing, therefore it is more expensive.
You can buy isolon in rolls with a thickness of 0.2 mm. up to 1 cm.
Operational Features
Before starting work, you need to understand the characteristics of the material. Izolon - has a soft structure, so it is easy to cut with scissors. It does not melt and does not burn, under the influence of high temperatures it can bend and stick together. To get the desired shape, the sheet is heated, and then it is bent by hand as required by the idea.
Izolon is tensile strength and can be easily connected with glue or threads. You can paint the material only with acrylic paints or aerosol, since it does not absorb other compounds.
Necessary materials
To create a rose lamp you will need:
- 2 mm isolon - 12 sheets 20x20, 8 sheets 15x15, 5 sheets 20x5.
- Coupling. The diameter of the larger side should correspond to the dimensions of the cartridge, the narrower side - the pipe.
- Cartridge with ring.
- Wire 3 meters.
- Switch.
- Light.
- Fork.
- Base pipe 1.5 m high.
- Screwdriver.
- Scissors.
- Glue gun.
- Building hair dryer.

Lamp-flower
To make a flower lamp from an isolon, you need to step by step collect the plafond and the stem. Then the parts are assembled into one common structure. How long the work will take depends on the experience of the master, materials and dimensions of the product.
Assembly of the plafond
It is necessary to remove the ring from the cartridge and stick it on the sleeve. Petals must be cut out of the insulating material. To do this, take two blanks with dimensions of 20x20, from which two adjacent corners are cut off. You should have chamomile-like petals. The remaining sheets 20x20 and 15x15 are cut in such a way that a drop shape is obtained. Sheets 20x5 are cut in the form of a tear-shaped elongated sepal with teeth.
Use a hair dryer to heat the edges of the drops and shape them with your fingers.
Now you can collect the buds. Large leaves are attached to the sleeve with an overlap. On top, you need to glue two more rows of 15x15 sheets. Each new petal should overlap the previous one by a little less than half. Then 2 rows of 20x20 are made. During assembly, the top leaves should be flush with the first two rows.
Assembling the stem
A support ring is bent from a part of the pipe. The rest bends figuratively so that the flower is stable.The ends of the cables must be slightly stripped of insulation, inserted into the hole of the cartridge and tightened with screws.
The cord is passed through the shade sleeve and is threaded through the stem. The cores pulled out from the other end are stripped and installed in the plug. Next, you can connect the switch to a wire break.
Assembling the entire product
It is necessary to tighten the cord and glue the sleeve to the pipe. The junction is covered with sepals. The final step is screwing the light bulb in and checking the functionality.
If you show your imagination, you can make other flowers from isolon, for example tulips, poppies. Since the material is white, it can be painted with acrylic paint or spray can. To increase the size of the finished flower, the proportions must be maintained in the new product.
Making a doll
Such a figure is perfect for a girl's room. For the boy, you can make a pirate lamp.
The lower part of the pupa is a skirt that will be made of izolon. It will be attached to the lamp shade. It is recommended to choose a lamp of such a size that the skirt and the doll itself do not seem unnatural in proportion.
For work you will need:
- A doll such as a Barbie.
- Glue.
- Screwdriver.
- Bolts.
- Isolon sheets - 10 pcs. 20x20 cm, 10 pieces 10x10 cm.
- Green foamiran 5 sheets 4x8 cm, 2 thin strips, 1 wide strip.
- Purple permanent marker.
- Hair dryer.
- Scissors.
How to make a lamp-doll from izolon:
- You need to remove the legs of the doll and make a hole at the bottom with a screwdriver.
- A hole is also made in the upper part of the plafond.
- The bolt must be threaded through the hole of the lamp and the doll should be placed on it. Everything must be securely fixed with glue.
- At izolon, 3 corners are cut off in square blanks. The result should be a drop-shaped leaf.
- Draw a permanent marker along the edges of the sheets.
- Each of the blanks should be warmed up with a hair dryer and the edges should be slightly stretched to make a wave. Then you need to warm up the middle and stretch it, making a depression.
- The resulting large workpieces 20x20 are glued to the shade in one row. The edge of the sheets should go down slightly and bend.
- Above, the second row is glued in a checkerboard pattern. Even higher, two rows of 10x10 cm blanks are added.
- Leaves must be cut out of green foamiran. Thin stripes should be glued like the top of the dress in the shape of the letter "y". Foamiran leaves are glued to the waist. A thick strip is wound around the waist.
The doll lamp, if desired, can be decorated with rhinestones, beads, sparkles and other decorations.
Light soccer ball
An original lamp in the form of a soccer ball can be made into the boy's room. It is not difficult to make such a lamp, you just need to carefully cut out the parts so that they attach to each other without protrusions.
For work you will need:
- White and black isolon (you can paint white sheets with black acrylic paint).
- Green foamiran.
- Round shade.
- Cardboard (for cutting out templates).
- Pencil.
- Scissors.
- Ruler.
- Hair dryer.
- Glue.
Two patterns are cut out on cardboard - a pentagon and a hexagon. Each side should be 3 cm long. Then hexagons (19 pieces) are cut out of the white isolone, and pentagons (12 pieces) from the black one.
When assembling the ball, the white parts stick to the black ones. Previously, the Izolon sheets need to be warmed up with a hairdryer and a small depression should be made in the middle so that the material lies evenly on the round shade. Then all parts are glued to the shade with a glue gun. You should start from the top center point, gradually going down to the bottom of the lamp.
Grass is cut from green foamiran, which will be glued to the bottom of the plafond. To do this, cut teeth on a strip of material. The resulting strip must be glued to the bottom of the lamp.
The last step is to install the light bulb and check if it works.
Isolone rununculus
Rununculus, or as it is also called buttercup, is a bright and fluffy flower, in the form of which you can make a stylish lamp.
The following details are required:
- Isolon sheets 10x7 - 7 pieces, 14x10 - 7 pieces, 17x14 - 7 pieces, 21x16 - 15 pieces, 25x18 - 15 pieces, 29x21 - 15 pieces, 36x23 - 35 pieces, 43x27 - 4 pieces.
- Glue.
- Hair dryer.
- Scissors.
- Paper.
- Lamp.
- A small circle of isolon.
All leaves are in the form of a drop. A template is drawn on paper and translated into isolon. These blanks are cut from all isolon sheets.
Each leaf must be warmed up over a hair dryer and attached to a round shade so that the blanks get the desired shape. In the largest leaves, you need to stretch the edges a little so that they are in the form of a wave.
A circle is glued on top. All the petals are glued around it with an overlap as the size of the workpiece increases in several rows. It is better not to retreat more than 1 cm from the rows so that the flower appears more magnificent.
The resulting flower is best used as a table lamp or sconce.
You can make a hydrangea lamp from isolon, lotus, chamomile, peonies, lilies, various objects (ships, cars), figurines. It all depends only on the imagination of the master.
