The modular automatic circuit breaker VA47-29 is manufactured in accordance with the international standard GOST 50345-99. This device can have different polarity, power and a whole range of other characteristics, thanks to which it can be used to easily equip a switchboard for relatively little money.
Differences between manufacturers
The VA 47-29 assault rifle is available in two versions - China or Russia. The first is produced by IEK (InterEnergoKomplekt) and is positioned as a solid Chinese product that will provide its owner with protection from negative effects on the power grid for a long time. The warranty for such devices is 3 years.
The second option is the VA 47-29 switch from the Kursk Electrical Apparatus Plant, which is guaranteed for up to two years.
Design features
The equipment is manufactured taking into account the following features:
- The design by which the setting of the thermal release is adjusted works by screwing the adjusting screw into the base of the device, thereby eliminating the risk of accidental parameter changes during the operation of the circuit breaker.
- The contacts are coated with a special material containing silver.
- Circuit breakers VA 47-49 are distinguished by low losses between terminals and a conductor.
- All moving contacts inside the device are coated with a special silver coating to ensure maximum service life and reliable performance.
- The machine uses a fast-acting contact release system, which prevents the current from reaching peak values when a short circuit occurs.
- The device can be connected to wires with a diameter of up to 20 mm.
- The equipment is designed for over 6000 on-off cycles.
In this case, the machine can be installed arbitrarily anywhere.
Advantages of VA 47-29 circuit breakers
Among the advantages of modular circuit breakers are:
- Non-separable design with four (Russia) or six (China) rivets that unite all parts of the body.
- Contact position indicator. Lights up green when they are open, or lights up red when the system is energized when the contacts are interconnected.
- The presence of combined protection against the effects of overcurrents on the power grid. The thermal release reacts in time to the occurrence of any overloads in the network, while the electromagnetic one is triggered if it detects the occurrence of a short circuit in the network.
- The standard width of the module is 18 mm and corresponds to the width of one pole. For example, if you buy a three-pole VA47-29 machine, its width will be 54 mm.
- Spring loaded latch to conveniently attach the device to a DIN rail.
- Seal, with which the screws of the terminal clamps are fixed.
- Ribbed clamping surfaces for efficient fixing of the connected conductors.
- Switching capacity at the level of 4.5 kA (maximum short-circuit switched by this equipment), which is quite enough for domestic use.
The BA 47-29 is an inexpensive and practical option for ensuring the safety of electrical networks in any modern home.
Operation of devices
Switching machines VA 47-29 are fairly common equipment. They are often found not only in household, but also in many industrial power grids. With the help of such a device, it is provided:
- manual power outage in a fixed object;
- automatic shutdown after a certain period of time in a specific area where the overload was recorded, or instantly in the place where the occurrence of a short circuit was recorded;
- long-term carrying out of the rated current.
The VA 47-29 circuit breaker has technical characteristics that meet international standards, which allows it to maintain its performance in conditions of an alternating current voltage of up to 240 volts (between neutral and phase) or up to 400 volts (between phases) at a frequency of 50/60 Hz.
Previously, there was a modernized series of such machines, which was called VA 47-29M, but at the moment none of the manufacturers is engaged in its production, since the model has been completely replaced by the standard VA 47-29 series.
Specifications
To order a VA 47-29 machine gun suitable for the required conditions, you need to understand its technical characteristics. The circuit breaker can have four polarity options: 1P, 2P, 3P and 4P. The value of the rated current in it can have different indicators: from 0.5 to 8 or from 10 to 63 amperes.
The protective characteristics of this equipment are marked B, C or D. The most common option is C, since it is most suitable for low-power systems in terms of price and quality. Features of protection classes:
- B - the device will instantly operate if a short circuit 3-5 * In is registered in the mains connected to it. Such equipment is most often used when it is necessary to provide protection for long conductors.
- C - the machine will immediately turn off the electricity at the facility if it registers a current of 5-10 * In. This option is the most common among users.
- D - the breaker will operate only when a short-circuit current occurs within the range of 10-50 * In.
In is the nominal current value and is indicated in amperes.
If a circuit breaker is installed at the facility, in which the rated current is 10 amperes, and the device itself complies with the protection class C, when an overcurrent appears in the mains, the device will instantly work only after the equipment starts operating in the range of 50-100 amperes.
Modular switches have reduced accuracy, while modular switches have an error of 20%.
Motor protection
If the system uses a circuit breaker belonging to the protection class C, when the installation is started, when the currents reach ten nominal values or even exceed this indicator, a false operation of the equipment may occur. To eliminate such a risk, in the majority of cases, modular devices belonging to the protective class D are used.
It is important to make sure that the system is reliably protected from overload currents, which ultimately adversely affect the duration of the insulation used. The switch should be located as close to the electric motor as possible, and the thermal relay is best mounted on the starter to achieve equal operating temperature conditions for this equipment. It often happens that the thermal release trips in vain, being influenced by any heat sources, or does not work at all if it is in a low temperature environment.
It is best to equip input devices with VA47-100 circuit breakers, which are distinguished by an increased limiting breaking capacity, which is why they themselves are slightly wider.
