Overview of polymer concrete drainage trays

Trays are used as the main element of storm sewers. Gutters are made of polypropylene, low-pressure polyethylene, reinforced concrete and stone chips with polymer admixtures. The latter version of the products is popular due to the total weight and optimal technical characteristics. Prices for polymer concrete drainage trays with grates vary depending on the dimensions: the length of the section, its hydraulic section, the width and height of the sides.

Scope of application of polymer concrete drainage trays

Polymer concrete drainage trays

As well as concrete / plastic gutters, polymer concrete trays are produced strictly in accordance with GOST. As a result, the products combine the strength of stone and the plasticity of polymers. Such gutters are used in the following areas:

  • installation of a drainage system on private plots;
  • storm water drainage at urban facilities: parks, paths, transport roads;
  • installation of a drainage system at gas stations, car washes;
  • installation of channels for the removal of rainwater and polluted wastewater in the area of industrial enterprises.

Due to its high strength, polymer concrete is able to withstand loads of up to 25 tons. Under large static and dynamic influences, the gutter is subject to deformation.

Technical characteristics of gutters

Technical characteristics of polymer concrete

During the production of polymer concrete gutters, special resins (usually epoxy) are added to the mixture. They serve as a binder instead of mineral additives (silicate, sand, etc.). As a result, the trays have the following technical characteristics:

  • Load classes range from A15 to C 250. This means that the gutters can withstand from 1.5 to 25 tons.
  • The water absorption is practically 0.
  • Hydraulic section - from 100 to 200 mm.
  • Section length is usually 1000 mm.
  • The width of the product is from 138 to 248 mm.
  • The height of the sides is from 60 mm to 243 mm.
  • Tray weight from 6.3 kg to 13.4 kg.

Laying of polymer concrete gutters is not carried out in the conditions of military bases, airports and other powerful facilities with a load of more than 25 tons.

Installation features

Polymer concrete trays are laid using the following technology:

  1. Prepare a trench for a stormwater device. Its depth is made 10-15 cm more than the height of the gutter. A margin of 5-7 cm is also left on the sides.
  2. The bottom of the channel is carefully compacted and covered with a layer of sand. It also needs to be tamped and leveled.
  3. As soon as the sand cushion is ready, a layer of concrete mixture 5-8 cm thick is poured onto the bottom of the channel. They are waiting for everything to dry out.
  4. Using a level or a control thread, the trays are laid. They are joined together according to the groove-groove principle.
  5. The sides of the storm drain are poured with a solution of cement and sand. It will protect the sewer system from heaving of the soil.
  6. The channel is sprinkled and protective grilles are laid.

If the storm sewer is laid in public places, it is better to choose slotted gratings with a fixation system. This will ensure the safety of the metal from vandals.

Advantages and disadvantages of polymer concrete gutters

Polymer concrete trays have the following advantages:

  • High strength. Due to the absence of mineral impurities, even pinpoint impacts are less terrible for trays than for concrete products.
  • Relatively light weight. A standard polymer concrete gutter is two times lighter than a stone product.
  • High compressive and tensile strength due to the added elastic resins.
  • Resistance to subzero temperatures.
  • Inertness to aggressive substances in the composition of effluents.
  • Having a smoother inner surface on which sludge and debris does not settle. Under this condition, cleaning the storm drain is many times easier.
  • The service life is from 30 years, subject to the correct installation of the sewage system.

For the device of a properly working gravity storm drain, it is important to correctly select the cross-section of the gutters.

Cost of polymer concrete trays

The price for gutters varies depending on the dimensions of the product. The approximate cost of products in Moscow and the region:

product nameLength (mm)Width (mm)Height (mm)Hydraulic section (mm)Price, rub.)
Polymer concrete tray COMPOMAX BASIC1000138601001290 RUB
Polymer concrete tray COMPOMAX BASIC1000138125100RUB 2050
Polymer concrete tray COMPOMAX BASIC1000243931003405 RUB
Polymer concrete tray COMPOMAX BASIC10001381001001522 RUB

When choosing polymer concrete gutters, it is important to take into account the amount of precipitation in the region. This will help to buy the gutters of the required capacity. When laying stormwater, you must observe the slope towards the central highway or a private receiver (septic tank / pits).
