The design and principle of operation of duct air conditioners are similar to the usual split systems. Therefore, the installation procedures for the duct air conditioner are the same.
The external module of duct-type air conditioners serves to remove heat, and the internal module to take it from the room air, to ensure outflow and inflow.
Features of installation of channel air conditioners
The peculiarity of the installation of a duct air conditioner is that the indoor unit is installed above the suspended ceiling or in the gaps between the walls. Thus, the presence of an air conditioner is indicated only by the grilles in the ceiling through which air is supplied from the device.
Another feature of the installation of ducted air conditioners is the ability to supply air to a specific location.
The external module is mounted first. It is installed on studs (hanging under a balcony or roof), brackets (installed on the wall), stand (on the floor).
Next, pipelines are laid, an electric cable, drainage hoses and then all air ducts. They are made of corrugated pipes or metal. Sometimes air ducts are equipped with heat and sound insulation.
Two-stage installation
Most often, the installation of a duct air conditioner is carried out during the construction or renovation of a building, since it is impossible to lay airways in a completely finished room. Therefore, the purchase of a duct air conditioner should be planned at the stage of wall construction.
The first stage is to install the outdoor module, pipelines, air ducts and all communications that will be located inside the inter-wall or inter-ceiling space. Before finishing the premises, it is necessary to carry out a test run of the equipment.
The second stage includes only installation of grilles, adjustment of the air conditioner. In some cases, the price of a ducted air conditioner includes commissioning.
Buying a duct air conditioner
The most reliable and practical duct air conditioners are produced by Japanese and renowned Korean companies.
Small manufacturers of cheap HVAC equipment rarely set their sights on the production of semi-industrial equipment, which include channel systems. Buying a duct air conditioner makes sense only if there are false ceilings.
Otherwise, it is more convenient to purchase a wall-mounted split system. The price of a duct air conditioner justifies itself when installing equipment in large offices, small businesses, private multi-room houses.
