As a rule, indoor and outdoor units of air conditioners are fixed to surfaces using brackets. The brackets for mounting air conditioners can withstand loads that significantly exceed the weight of the modules themselves. They should be fastened with special hardware (external blocks) or screws (internal).
Bracket requirements
Brackets for air conditioners must meet a number of requirements:
- Do not rust. The metal is covered with several layers of special durable paints that do not scratch during installation;
- All holes for screwing in bolts and screws are made in the factory before applying the anti-corrosion layer;
- The load supported by the air conditioner mounting bracket must be equal to or greater than the weight of the equipment.
To mount the brackets for air conditioners themselves, you must use only special fastening material, selected taking into account the wall cladding and the weight of the equipment.
Bracket types
There are three types of brackets for air conditioners:
- Welded metal corners;
- Metal corners connected by threads;
- Universal brackets with cross member.
The cheapest and most common are welded air conditioning compressor brackets. But in the place of the weld, the metal quickly begins to rust. Here, the corner can twist, since there is no stiffening rib. These mounts are bulky and difficult to transport.
The corners on the threads are made from a strip of metal 2 mm thick, bent in the form of the letter P. They are connected with bolts. They are more expensive, but all of the listed disadvantages do not apply to them.
The universal brackets for the outdoor unit of the air conditioner are assembled according to the scheme described above, however, they are equipped with one more horizontal cross member. The cross member simplifies the mounting of the bracket.
Anti-rust coating
This is one of the most critical technological processes in the production of brackets for the outdoor unit of an air conditioner.
Types of coverings for air conditioning compressor brackets:
- Enamelled;
- Polymeric;
- Galvanized.
Enamelled is inexpensive, but after 12 - 18 months rust appears in some places.
The polymer layer can withstand more than 5 years of operation, since the polymer layer adheres firmly to the top metal layer.
Galvanizing is the most reliable method of processing, providing from ten years of operation.
You can buy a bracket for an air conditioner complete with a set of fasteners (bolts, washers).
