It is quite difficult to equip a gym in an apartment. But it is always possible to place separate sports equipment in different places of the home. A horizontal bar in a doorway is one of the simplest and most successful solutions.
Design features of the spacer bar
Spacer bar - a projectile with a spring space. Such a crossbar is installed in the doorway and, due to a system of springs, it is firmly held. The weight load depends on the power of the model. Both children's and adult horizontal bars are produced, designed for a load of up to 200 kg.
The spacer bar can be removed at any time, the design is mobile.
The projectile can be installed by permanently fixing with screws on the jamb, or above it. A horizontal bar, bolted over the doorway, is better because neither the crossbar itself nor the brackets interfere with the passage. Fasteners are included with the industrial model.
Types of structures
The horizontal bar in the doorway for apartments or houses usually does not exceed 90 cm in width - it is designed for standard sizes.
At home, you can install other structures.
- Floor - often placed against a wall so as not to interfere with movement. It is a frame on racks. Equipped with a horizontal bar and folding bars, which can be moved along the posts, adjusting the height.
- Wall-mounted - the standard version, fixed to the wall. At home, it is better to hang the version with an adjustable shell height. Disadvantage: the combined weight of the structure with the user makes a considerable load. It is impossible to attach the shell to the interior partition.
- Hinged - similar to a spacer, but fixed with screws on the wall in any convenient place. It is better to drill for holes, this will injure the walls less.
The horizontal bars are also classified according to the method of attachment. The spacers are held by the force of the stop, the removable ones are attached to the lugs. Sliding structures are bolted. In the latter case, you need to ensure that the maximum length of the telescopic model is 10 cm more than the width of the opening. Otherwise, the structure may not be able to withstand the load.
Advantages and disadvantages of a horizontal bar in a doorway
A horizontal bar installed on a jamb is an excellent solution for an apartment. The advantages are as follows:
- the crossbar can be placed in any doorway;
- the structure is easy to install and remove at any time;
- the crossbar can be used as a bracket for children's swings or gymnastic rings;
- the cost of any model is available.
There are disadvantages:
- when fixing the horizontal bar, the door frame or the wall above the opening is damaged;
- the width of the door is small, so only a limited set of exercises can be performed here;
- do not put the structure on a weak door frame - it may collapse.
The spacer model is most suitable for the child. It creates a small load and allows you to free the opening at night and close the door to the bedroom.
Choice of heights and sizes
The horizontal bar, which does not need to be fixed to the wall, is chosen according to certain parameters.
- User's height - the crossbar is placed so that the practitioner does not slightly reach it with arms outstretched upward. It must be remembered that children grow up quickly, the projectile must be periodically rearranged.
- The weight of the model is designed for specific loads. The maximum permissible user weight is 200 kg.
- Material - the crossbar is made of steel, its surface should be flat, without chips and roughness. Options with polyurethane handles are preferable, since sweaty palms do not slip from such a coating.
- Mounting point - only spacer and telescopic models are installed in the opening. Moreover, the first ones do not damage the joint.
It is better to put removable models in the apartment, since it is rather difficult to fit a sports equipment into the interior.
What to make a crossbar
The horizontal bar in the opening is made of steel pipe. The diameter and wall thickness depend on the expected load. In this case, the cross-section of the crossbar should not exceed 3 cm, otherwise it will be difficult to grasp the bar with your hands. For children's models, a thinner tube is taken.
Production models are not polished as this improves glide. For a homemade projectile, it is better to take an enameled pipe. The coating protects against corrosion, but at the same time provides good grip on damp hands.
How to install a horizontal bar in a doorway
It is not difficult to install horizontal bars between posts or doors. Installation depends on the type of construction.
- Since a removable model is preferable, they are attached to the jamb on the crossbar itself, and the brackets under it. You can make them with your own hands: just cut out 10 cm long bars from plywood 3 cm thick. A semicircular cutout is made in them under the crossbeams. They are fastened with nails on the frame racks, and the projectile is inserted into the groove. Several holes can be drilled to position the bar at a comfortable height for children and adults.
- For the same purpose, metal brackets are used - sockets with grooves for the crossbar. In this case, the horizontal bar is attached with anchors to the plates. He does not change the height.
- The spacer model can be placed in the opening and between the walls in the corridor. In the first case, it is rarely recorded. In the second, the bar is attached to special sides and fixed with self-tapping screws or bolts.
Installation on plasterboard partitions is difficult. If this is only a finish, holes are made in it and a horizontal bar is placed on the base walls, and the spacer entrance is reinforced with a rotoband sheet. If the partition is made of plasterboard, a long crossbar is placed - at least 8 cm longer, so that it practically sews through the partition. In this case, the load is better distributed.
It is strictly forbidden for an adult weighing more than 80 kg to use such a projectile.
