The South Korean company DAEWOO ENERTEC presented XL PIPE underfloor heating to Russian consumers. This is a unique new generation heating system. The XL PIPE electric water floor differs significantly from the underfloor heating that the consumer is used to seeing.
Technical features of XL Pipe underfloor heating
The newest floor system XL PIPE consists of plastic sealed pipes, inside them there is an electric cable. The pipes are filled with a special liquid that quickly boils when the cable is heated.
XL PIPE can be used as primary and additional heating. No boiler or stove is needed to install it. Thanks to this, the installation of an electric-water floor requires minimal financial investment.
This type of underfloor heating can be used in small cold areas and in large rooms. It fits into a screed up to 8 centimeters. The veneer can be hard or soft. In contrast to this system, electric underfloor heating requires only solid cladding material.
XL PIPE electric water floor can be installed anywhere. He is not afraid of mechanical impact, furniture movement. In contrast, an ordinary warm floor is prone to cable rubbing. In places where large-sized furniture is installed, it may overheat, because of this, the entire system may fail.
Advantages and disadvantages
The XL PIPE floor system is specially designed for heating equipment in private houses and cottages. It is very popular due to its many benefits:
- Suitable for installation under any base: laminate, tiles, carpet and linoleum.
- Does not require additional installation of pumps and boilers.
- The cable is in a special liquid, due to which it is excluded from overheating.
- The system is resistant to rubbing, large-sized furniture can be placed on the floor without fear that the cable will be pinched and the system will fail.
- It is possible to repair without opening the screed.
- The function of adjusting the temperature in different rooms has been installed.
Liquid XL PIPE underfloor heating is characterized by the following characteristics:
- It is an economical energy saving system. 98% of all energy goes to heating the room. Thanks to this, heat is not lost, the cost of heating is significantly reduced.
- The warm water floor can be easily installed under any type of coating.
- The design is completely safe for humans, as it prevents the emission of electromagnetic waves.
- Its innovative design ensures its reliability and long service life.
XL PIPE electric water floors are a completely self-contained system. This type of hot water heating can be installed as the main heating source. It is not afraid of moisture, therefore it is suitable for installation in bathrooms and toilets.
What's included in the XL Pipe system
The entire XL PIPE electric water underfloor heating system is offered to the consumer completely ready-made. Additionally, for installation, you only need to purchase materials for thermal insulation, it can be technoplex, penoplex. You will also need to stock up on a 3 * 4 mm thick reinforcing mesh, a junction box and plastic clamps.
The XL PIPE underfloor heating system is available in eight configurations. They differ in power and are capable of heating rooms of various sizes. The novelty is completely autonomous. It is able to function without a radiator and boiler. The kit includes:
- tube packed in a coil;
- instructions with a warranty card.
You will need to purchase a thermostat separately.
Device and principle of operation
The novelty of the Korean system is the unique structure of the heating element. It is a 20 mm diameter pipe made of structured polyethylene. Inside, the pipe is filled with a coolant, then a cable is inserted along the entire length.
The difference from conventional underfloor heating is that the cable consists of an alloy of chromium and nickel, covered with a Teflon sheath on top. The whole structure is hermetically sealed. Thanks to this design, the coolant inside the tube does not move, it is completely static.
The main feature of the principle of operation of the innovative electric-water floor system is that for heating it is not necessary to purchase separately a collector, a boiler and a circulation pump.
The system is installed under the screed. This ensures an even distribution of heat over the entire surface. Antifreeze acts as a coolant. Unlike other warm floors, antifreeze always achieves a stable temperature.
The main advantage of the system is that it can be used as primary heating. To increase the heating power, during installation, the laying step is reduced.
XL Pipe underfloor heating installation rules
The quality of heating depends on how well the warm floor is laid. For effective heating of a private house, it is important to choose the right pipes for the line by meter. To make calculations, you need to measure the flooring in the room. Next, you need to divide the smallest length by the step with which you plan to lay the pipes. The average distance between the pipes on the main line is 20-30 cm. The digital indicator, which is obtained, is multiplied by the longest length of the room. The power calculation can be done in a special table, which is offered by the manufacturer himself.
Before starting the installation work, it is recommended to make a project for laying the highway. It will represent a drawing containing the length, the method of pipe laying, the distance between the turns. Such a project will assist in the installation process and, if necessary, repairs.
To install a floor heating system, you need to do the following:
- Level the floor covering.
- Install thermal insulation. It should be at least 5 cm thick. It is best to use Technoplex or Penoplex.
- A reflective screen must be placed on the insulation. It is needed to improve the transmission of heat waves.
- To fix the line, you must first install the reinforcement mesh. It should be evenly distributed over the entire subfloor. But at the same time it is necessary to observe the distance of the mesh from the wall. It must be at least five centimeters long.
- Piping starts from a junction box, which is installed on the floor. The line can be laid in two ways: a snail or a snake. Most often, builders choose a snail. The first step with this method will be 60 cm, the pipe reaches the center, then turns in the opposite direction. The second step should be 30 cm. Finally, the pipe is led out to the junction box. When laying the line, you need to carefully monitor that there are no kinks or sharp corners on the pipes.
- The laid line is attached to the reinforcement mesh using special plastic tapes.
- The cable is connected to the thermostat using additional wires. The thermostat must be placed on the wall, the distance from the floor must be at least 30 cm.
- A temperature sensor is placed on the floor surface. It is better if it will be located directly on the pipe. So he can immediately sense the temperature level and give a signal to the system.
- Before pouring the screed, the floor must be tested. To do this, use a multimeter. It helps to measure the resistance of the material. If the test is successful, a concrete screed with a thickness of no more than 8 cm is made. XL Pipe underfloor heating does not have to be hidden under the screed. There are options for dry installation. It is a pipe laying on a rough surface in specially made grooves. They are covered with special foil used for saunas. Pipes are located on top. The laid line is covered with GVL 2 cm thick.
- The next layer will be facing. The trunk can be fastened when mounted on a wooden base. To do this, you must first make plywood paths.
When first connected, it may take 48 hours for full heating. After the coolant has warmed up, the entire floor system begins to operate normally.
The XL PIPE warm floor system is one of the most effective ways to organize heating in country houses. The Korean manufacturer gives a 50-year warranty. Owners of country houses, as well as professionals in the field of heating systems, prefer XL PIPE electric water floors due to the highest quality and ease of installation.
