The main types of insulation
Foamed polyethylene
The heat insulator has a porous structure, it is very flexible and durable. This material is most often used for sound insulation and insulation. The industry produces three types of polyethylene foam.
- Unstitched. The structure is the most loose, the material is the least durable, cheapest and available. It is used more often for the production of packaging containers.
- HPPE - with chemical stitching. The material is denser, with small cells; after deformation, it restores its shape.
- FPPE - with physical or radiation firmware. The most expensive, elastic and soft polymer, it can recover its shape faster and adhere more tightly to the surface.
All types of foamed polyethylene are covered with foil, the top layer of which is polished.
Self-adhesive foil insulation does not allow moisture to pass through, does not conduct electricity, does not emit harmful chemicals, and retains heat. It is quite cheap, therefore it ranks first in terms of frequency of use.
Insulation tape
For insulation of window and door openings, adhesive paper tape is used. Previously, it was replaced by paper and soap. With the help of tape, it is much easier to make insulation, since one side has an adhesive layer.
Heat-insulating self-adhesive tape is available in three varieties:
- rubber - used for sealing small cracks, withstands temperature drops from -50 to +70 degrees;
- silicone - more plastic, bridging wide gaps, resistant to temperature influences;
- vinyl-polyurethane - a more porous material, it protects well from dust, but less durable.
Since foil adhesive heat-insulating tape is not always of the required thickness, foam rubber is sometimes used for better insulation.
Foam insulation
Heat and sound insulation of premises is done with foam rubber. Due to its porous structure, it is able to quickly shrink and re-take its shape. The seal has a wide range of applications. It is produced most often in rolls or in the form of adhesive tapes.
Insulation film
The material has the ability to retain heat and trap sunlight. It is used for darkening windows in rooms, for reflecting heat from batteries, for underfloor heating. This is an excellent vapor barrier for baths and saunas, it is not subject to corrosion and water.
Advantages and disadvantages of self-adhesive insulation
Self-adhesive insulation has the following advantages:

- after use, traces of glue are poorly cleaned.
Over time, aluminum foil corrodes and becomes cloudy and weakens. To reduce the deterioration of the foil coating from external influences, the insulation is mounted with a small air gap. Even a small distance between insulation and surface finish promotes ventilation and increases service life.
Application area
The product is used for interior and exterior decoration of premises. Of the features, water resistance, fire resistance, lightness and strength are important. In addition, the material is environmentally friendly, hypoallergenic and does not emit harmful substances.
