The use of electric boilers for heating a house of 100 square meters
With all the advantages of an electric boiler, its use costs a round sum. Therefore, when choosing a model, cost becomes the second most significant factor after power. Economic considerations limit its use:
- The installation of an electric boiler is quite justified if they do not live in the house permanently in winter and only come for the weekend. The unit provides quick heating of the premises, and in 2 days it does not have time to wind up a lot of electricity. Of the proposed models, the cheapest is chosen: its cost will cover the cost of electricity for a long time.
- If people live in the house permanently, it is advantageous to combine an electric boiler with a gas or solid fuel one. The electric device turns on when the main boiler does not work for some reason. In this case, for heating a house of 100 sq. m. a device with a capacity of 3–6 kW is sufficient. It is connected to a single-phase network.
- The most disadvantageous solution is basic heating with an electric unit. But when the installation of gas or solid fuel is impossible, they choose this option, trying to choose the most economical model.
For stable operation, the electric boiler is connected through a stabilizer. If it plays the role of the main source of heat, it is advisable to also purchase a generator in case of a power outage.
Varieties of electric boilers
Aggregates are classified according to a variety of criteria. Boilers are single and double-circuit - capable of also heating water for hot water supply, floor-standing and wall-mounted, single and three-phase. The consumer is interested in the heating method:
- Heating element is the cheapest, but also the most uneconomical option. Its efficiency is not higher than 80%, heating elements are quickly covered with bloom, which worsens heat transfer. Such a model is suitable as an auxiliary heat source.
- Electrode - efficiency over 90%, heats water instantly. During installation, the device must be grounded.
- Induction - the manufacturer promises an efficiency of 99%. This efficiency is achieved due to the smooth regulation of the operating power without peak loads.
Electricity consumption in an electrode and induction boiler can be reduced by choosing a control unit.
Manual control
The control is represented by verniers, with the help of which the degree of heating is set. It is not possible to indicate the temperature of the heating medium. It is possible to monitor the parameters of heated water only empirically. Such models are equipped with safety systems - in case of voltage surges or insufficient pressure, they turn off, preventing a short circuit. However, the device cannot signal the owner about malfunctions or problems with power supply.
Electronically controlled
The thermostat assumes more fine tuning of work. The device evaluates not the temperature of the coolant, but the temperature of the air in the room - it works until it really becomes warm in the room. In this case, it becomes possible to change the specified temperature so that the boiler, for example, at night, heats rooms to a lower temperature and saves electricity.
The unit is equipped with an LCD display. It displays the current mode, room temperature, boiler operation.
The thermostat can be installed later if the electric boiler device allows fine tuning.
With programmers
An electric boiler for 100 m2 with a programmer allows you to set the operating mode immediately for a week. The consumer indicates the room temperature during the day, in the evening, at night for 7 days. This saves on electricity bills. If there is no one in the house, the boiler reduces the intensity of heating, and an hour before the arrival of the owners, it increases so that by the time they appear in the house it is warm and comfortable.
Specifications
All electrical units are lightweight, compact and easy to use. You can install any of them yourself. The device is selected according to other parameters:
- Power - each model is capable of heating only a certain area. Boilers with indicators of 3-6 kW are designed for heating 50-60 sq. m. For heating 100 sq. m. a unit with a capacity of at least 10-10.5 kW is required. But if the boiler is only an auxiliary source of heat, they buy the model of the smallest power.
- What is the consumption of an electric boiler for heating a private house of 100 m2 is the second most important factor. For information on energy consumption, refer to the instructions for the device. This takes into account its efficiency. The indicators of the heating element will have to be reduced by 20%. The efficiency of induction is close to 100%, therefore its nominal parameters are considered actual.
- One- or three-phase - the main electric boiler for 100 sq. m. can only be three-phase.
- Additional options - pump type, control method.
- Execution - floor or wall. They do not need additional ventilation or chimney, so the boiler can be installed in any room.
Other factors also influence the choice: the ability to heat the water, the number of heating elements, the method of power adjustment.
Advantages and disadvantages
The advantages of an electric boiler are many:
- There is no open fire - this is the safest device in terms of fire. Even in the event of a short circuit, ignition is excluded.
- The boiler is assembled and configured independently. The settings can be changed at any time.
- The boiler does not need a chimney, ventilation, or thermal insulation. Install the device in any convenient place.
- Very high efficiency - up to 99%.
- Repair is not difficult: the design is simple, spare parts are always available.
- The cost is relatively low.
The disadvantages are also significant:
- Electricity is the most expensive fuel. Heating a house in this way will cost a lot.
- The stable operation of the unit is provided by a current with a constant sufficient voltage. Interruptions and power surges will quickly disable the device.
- When the electricity goes out, the house gets cold very quickly.
For heating a private house up to 100 m2, a three-phase electric boiler is required. If such a decision is made during construction, the appropriate wiring is immediately included in the project. If later, the wiring will have to be changed.
Household heating costs with electricity
It is difficult to calculate exactly the costs in advance. Approximate calculations are made as follows:
- An induction boiler uses up 99% of the energy consumed. A 12 kW unit consumes 12.1 kW. Another 60-150 W is taken by the circulation pump in the system. However, this value is maximum. In fact, the boiler works at full capacity quite rarely and on average during the heating season it consumes from 40 to 70% of the calculated energy, that is, 12 kW * 0.5 * 24 = 144 kW per day.
- The calculated value is multiplied by the current tariff. For example: 144 * 5.8 rubles * 30 days = 23241 rubles. per month.
To reduce consumption, it is recommended to install a multi-tariff meter. It differentiates consumption by time of day. By correctly adjusting the heating mode, you can save up to 14 thousand rubles per month.
Connecting the electric boiler to the heating system
Installation is allowed anywhere, however, the device must be protected from moisture, access to it is limited. Therefore, it is undesirable to put a boiler in the bathroom. Heating elements are allowed to be installed in the kitchen and in the hallway - they are not afraid of moisture, but then the heating main will have to be laid into this room. In fact, the boiler almost always ends up in a separate technical room.
An electric boiler is installed to heat a private house of 100 sq. m. according to the instructions. Some general recommendations are also followed:
- Most models are wall mounted. If the wall is covered with wood, it is recommended to insulate this area.
- The boiler must be easily accessible.
- A free area is left near the induction boiler, since a pump and an expansion tank must be fixed next to it.
- The cables are placed above the heating and sewer pipes so that in the event of a leak, the wire is not flooded.
- The body is connected to the grounding bus. If it is not there, they construct a ground loop and lay it in the boiler room.
- The supply and return pipelines are fixed in the corresponding branch pipes and fixed.
Connection diagrams are used different, depending on the type of device. If the boiler is not equipped with its own tank or pump, these devices are embedded in the return.
