How to grind timber before painting

Wanting to save on material, developers often buy sawn timber that has not been processed after sawing. Grinding of timber is possible at each stage of construction, for its implementation it is necessary to choose the right tool and observe the technology.

What is the grinding of the timber for?

The need for finishing any lumber used in construction, caused by several circumstances:

  • On sawmills, the timber is not subjected to finishing; during grinding, natural imperfections are eliminated - irregularities, processing defects.
  • As it dries, the top layer of the wood cracks, a "pile" appears, which worsens the appearance, and painting cannot hide imperfections.
  • Defects can appear during the delivery of the timber and during the laying of walls, the erection of partitions - in visible places, an improvement in appearance is carried out.
  • After the walls have shrunk, deformations appear, as they dry out, fungal colonies or mold may appear, darkening of the surface - processing is necessary to correct.

In the process of grinding, the structure of the wood is revealed, the pattern appears brighter, which improves the appearance. After processing, it becomes possible to cover the walls with transparent paints and varnishes, giving the building a natural look.
