Regardless of these factors, it is important to understand how to replace the light bulb in the hood in the kitchen if it burns out.
Choice of lamps for the hood
Lamps of the following types are installed in modern exhaust devices:
- luminescent;
- economical LED;
- halogen and conventional incandescent lamps.
A fluorescent lamp in the hood in the kitchen allows you to get cold and soft light, which guarantees good illumination of the kitchen equipment. They are designed for long service lives of at least 5 years and are distinguished by a relatively high price. Fluorescent lamps are installed in Krona, Faber Titano and Miele DA models.
LED devices are characterized by high efficiency and are installed in modern models of exhaust devices. Presumably, the savings due to their use reach 90%, and the service life is at least 10 years. LED lamps are installed in hood models such as Shindo Nori, Hansa OKC, Gorenje BHP, Maunfeld and others.
Halogen bulbs are a relatively expensive option for long-life lighting fixtures. They are achieved by adding halogen vapors to the cylinder, which increases the working life up to 2-4 thousand hours, and the temperature of the spiral - up to about 300 degrees. Halogen lights use less energy than conventional bulbs and produce a natural glow. These products compete with LED counterparts and are installed in Elikor hoods, for example.
Incandescent lamps are positioned as the simplest lighting option found in most budget models. The light beam in these products is obtained by passing a current through the tungsten filament. This light source is characterized by a soft glow that creates a cozy feeling. As a rule, samples with a power of 20 or 40 watts with a base marked E14 are installed in the hoods. The disadvantage of cheap light bulbs is that they burn out quickly.
Advantages and disadvantages
Advantages of using backlighting:
- ease of use of the stove, illuminated from above;
- the possibility of long-term operation of economical products that do not blind the eyes of the hostess;
- natural lighting.
The advantages of backlighting do not exclude the presence of negative sides: the high cost of some types of illuminators and additional costs for electricity.
Breakdown reasons
The main reasons for lamp failure include:
- expiration of service life;
- breakdown of the switch;
- wiring problems;
- contamination and ingress of moisture;
- short circuit in the power supply circuit or open circuit in the connecting contacts.
Each of the listed cases requires a special approach that will help to eliminate the malfunction that has arisen. Sometimes you can do this yourself, but in most situations, the intervention of a professional electrician will be required.
Replacing the light bulb in the hood, depending on the design
The procedure for replacing lamps in the hood depends on the type of illuminator used. For a conventional incandescent lamp, it looks like this:
- The device is disconnected from the power supply - the plug is pulled out of the socket.
- A pause is made necessary for the lamp to cool down, after which the grease filter is removed.
- The burned-out lamp is unscrewed by rotating it counterclockwise, and a new product of the same power is screwed in its place.
At the final stage of work, the filter is returned back. To test the new illuminator, a test switch is made.
For halogen bulbs, the replacement sequence looks like this:
- The hood is de-energized, after which time is given to cool the lamp surface.
- The protective panel of the luminaire is removed, prying off with a flat screwdriver.
- The halogen device is changed to a similar sample. When replacing it, do not handle the lamp housing with bare hands. A clean cloth is used to exclude the formation of sweat marks on the glass, leading to rapid burnout.
- The illuminator cover is installed in place.
LED products are replaced in the same manner. The only subtlety is the presence of a locking button in some models, which should be pressed when removing the old light bulb.
Luminescent and halogen products that have burnt out or have spent their time must be disposed of, since they contain gas that is dangerous to humans in the flask. LEDs do not contain harmful components and are most often dismantled for parts.
Features of replacing bulbs in hoods from different manufacturers
To change the light bulbs in kitchen hoods from different manufacturers, you should carefully read the features of their design. Several popular firms are known, products from which are most often purchased by a Russian user.
Hoods "Krona"
In the products of this company, candle-shaped incandescent lamps "mignon" (E14 base) with a power of 25 watts are used. The use of products with other parameters is prohibited. To access them, you will need to remove the grease filter. Closer to the back wall, sockets are visible, into which one or two lamps are screwed (depending on the model). To replace a burned out light bulb, you will need to unscrew it, and then screw a new sample into this place. At the end of the operation, the aluminum filter is installed in place.
Maunfeld devices
When replacing lamps in Maunfield cooker hoods, a distinction should be made between two types of models. In one of them, after disconnecting from the network, the light bulb is simply removed from the cartridge and replaced with a new one. For the Great range, you will first need to pry the lamp housing retaining ring with a flat screwdriver and then gently pull it out. After that, it remains to replace the lighting element and install the ring in place.
Devices from Lex and Elikor
In the devices from the Lex company, the use of halogen bulbs is provided, which are noticeably different from other lighting products. When replacing them, the most important thing is not to touch the working surfaces of the lighting elements with your hands, since they then quickly fail.
