Distinctive features of pumping stations are their compact size, ease of installation and maintenance, and reasonable cost. The equipment is equipped with a special reservoir for accumulating water, which allows it to turn on less often, which reduces energy consumption and increases its operating life.
Submersible pumps are placed under water in a well, and a pumping station is installed on the surface in a basement. The room must be heated, otherwise the probability of freezing of the water supply line increases.
The principle of operation of both units is similar, but the pumping station is characterized by a more complex structure. It consists of the following parts:
- hydraulic accumulator;
- pipes;
- pump;
- protective valve;
- relay, due to which the entire system is turned on and off;
- return valve;
- purification system from impurities.
Expensive modifications are additionally equipped with parts against engine overheating and work without water.
The submersible pump is designed to operate in humid environments. Therefore, the device is equipped with the same parts as the previous one, but in addition there is a float, which, when the water level in the well drops sharply, opens the circuit and the unit turns off.

When choosing equipment for an autonomous water supply system, you need to rely not on personal preferences, but on the following selection criteria:
- Well diameter as well as casing dimensions.
- The presence and size of solid particles in well water.
- The daily amount of water consumed is determined by the number of residents and the presence of plumbing and household appliances.
- The remoteness of the water intake point.
- Dynamic and static water level in the well.
- Debit - the maximum volume indicators that the source can provide.
With the right choice of a pumping station or submersible pump, the water supply system will work without interruption, the use of the water supply system will be comfortable.
What to give preference to
Each type of equipment is purchased, installed and used for specific purposes. It is recommended to install a pumping station in combination with a centrifugal surface pump if the liquid level in the well does not fall below 8 meters. Compared to submersible counterparts, installation and maintenance of such equipment will be not only easy, but also less expensive, and the performance and power will be sufficient.
If the level of well fluid occurrence is more than 8 meters, it is better to give preference to submersible equipment, which, with its technical characteristics, will satisfy all the needs of households. The cost of submersible pumps is slightly higher, but the operational life with proper installation and maintenance is much longer.
