The main question for people who are going to buy equipment for water supply is what to choose: a good submersible pump or a surface pumping station. There is no definite answer, since several factors affect the operation of a particular unit. If you study them in detail, you can decide exactly what to buy.
The main differences between the pump and the pumping station
To make a choice between a pumping station or a submersible pump, you need to consider how long it is planned to operate the device: it will only work during the summer season or the owners live in the house permanently. If people rarely come to the dacha, it is advisable to remove the equipment so as not to be stolen. Dismantling the submersible unit is easier than moving the pumping machine with all pipes and hoses to another room.
The main differences are:
- When a stationary pumping unit is in operation, water is pumped into the accumulator. When the required pressure is reached in it, the relay turns off the device, and the liquid goes to the consumer. A hydroaccumulator is a piece of equipment associated with other components. There is no water supply in the submersible pump, it turns on every time the tap is opened at the top. To use the unit less, it is necessary to connect the storage tank to it separately. It can be made large - up to 200 liters, in which case the pump will turn on once a day.
- The submersible device consumes much less energy, since it does not waste it on suction, as the station does.
- The station can be heard in the living space, if it is located nearby, the submersible unit is difficult to hear, even if it is behind the wall, because the liquid reduces vibrations, and the engine is located in the water column.
- The advantage of a submersible device is in the depth from which it is able to raise water to the surface - up to 50 meters. The station pumps liquid from a maximum of 10 meters.
- The cost of a pumping machine is higher than that of a submersible pump.
Both types have advantages, disadvantages too, but each is designed for an individual situation, so the choice must be approached consciously.
It is more difficult to choose between a surface pump and a surface pumping machine. Here the principle of operation and the environment in which the devices will operate come to the fore.
The vortex surface pump is not used for pumping dirty liquid or water with sand, because solid particles destroy internal parts and destroy the unit. If the device is purchased for drainage or pumping water from a reservoir, it is better to use centrifugal or submersible equipment.
According to experts, there are more common characteristics between stations and conventional units. When choosing between a pumping station or a pump with automation, they look at the efficiency: if it is the same, there is no difference in operation.
The difference between a pumping station and a surface pump:
- price - pumps are produced without a storage battery, therefore, they are cheaper;
- the station is designed for stationary use, and the pump can be moved;
- the station is larger;
- manufacturer's brand: often simple pumps without storage last longer than a purchased stationary unit of unknown origin.
It is not recommended to save on equipment, the quality of which will affect the comfort of all residents.If there is no suitable pumping surface device on sale, it is better to buy a pump from a German manufacturer, install a storage tank and reduce the frequency of switching on to 1 - 2 times a day.
Criterias of choice
The main criterion is engine power. For a family of 3-5 people, you need to buy a unit capable of producing 3-5 cubic meters of water.
The depth of the well or well is taken into account. If the water is always at about the same level, you can take the station. But if the well becomes empty in hot weather, you will need a submersible pump operating at a depth of 50 m so as not to be left without water in summer.
The height of the water column is important when the equipment is far from the home. The indicator is calculated according to the formula, only then they go to choose a device with the specified parameters.
In what situations should you choose a pump
If the store does not have a pumping station with the required characteristics or operating principle, or its manufacturer does not inspire confidence, they choose a pump. If these are German, Italian or Danish manufacturers, there is a chance that the units will last at least 7 years without repair.
If in the summer the whole family moves to a fully equipped cottage, where it is planned to turn on plumbing fixtures and kitchen appliances, you will need a pump, which can be dismantled and hidden in the house with the onset of autumn.
If the house already has a stationary device, and the pump is needed for outdoor work or a vegetable garden, which is located near a reservoir, there is no need to overpay for the station.
In addition to drinking water, you can pump sewage or drain the lowlands. For such work, drainage or fecal pumps with a completely different principle of operation are suitable.
If the pressure of the pumping station located in the house is not enough to irrigate the site, a second copy is needed - more powerful, which will work from another water intake. Dismantling and moving the station is long and inconvenient. A small pump weighs much less.
When to choose a pumping station
Service centers for the repair and replacement of pumping equipment parts may not be available in all cities. This is an important point if, in addition, you buy a Chinese unit, which is likely to break down more often. Parts are cheap, but finding them quickly is problematic. It is not always possible to wait until the order comes from the Internet, so it is better to buy a unit from a well-known manufacturer, whose service center is located in the city.
Submersible equipment is more complex. If you have to install it yourself, but you do not have the necessary skills, it is better to choose a pumping station with a simplified connection method.
In terms of cost, the pumping machine will be cheaper than the same capacity of a submersible pump, by about 2-3 times. Among similar units, you need to choose a manufacturer. Russian products are not much different from Western counterparts, so you should take a closer look at them so as not to overpay.
It is worth considering in what conditions the equipment will work, how insulated the room is. Another nuance regarding the operation of the pumping station: the hose should not be put on the suction, because it sticks together during operation, and in winter it can burst at low temperatures. Surface pumping equipment needs a plastic pipe to keep the units running smoothly.
