Atoll water purification system is a filter for household use. Their task is to purify tap water to a drinking state. This improves the taste of the liquid and its smell. The company offers two types of filtration units: flow-through filters and reverse osmosis technology.
Atoll flow filters
It is a compact device that removes suspended particles from water, as well as metal salts and chlorine. Structurally, the filter of this model is a multilevel purification device, which includes three flask-type cartridge filtering elements. Each flask contains a cartridge made of different materials:
- The first flask contains polypropylene fibers, with the help of which large impurities are retained: sand, rust plates, scale, etc.
- Charcoal backfill inside the cartridge. It removes chlorine and heavy metal salts.
- Another carbon cartridge that captures small particles of organic compounds. It further improves the taste and smell of water.
Atoll flow filters are presented in a wide variety on the market. They differ from each other in performance. The minimum throughput of filtering devices is 3 l / min. Maximum - 8 l / min. This parameter is selected according to the number of people permanently living in an apartment or house. For example, the first model is installed in a house where no more than 4 people live. The second can be installed for a family of 8-10 people.
There are filters in the model line that differ from each other in additional functions. They are indicated in the marking with letters of the Latin alphabet:
- "S" - a filter capable of reducing the hardness of water, from which scale forms in household appliances;
- "H" - the device retains the smallest suspended particles, and also easily copes with metal salts and bacteria;
- "U" - the installation is equipped with a bactericidal lamp, which kills bacteria, viruses and microbes in the water as it moves.
To reduce the cost of flow-through filters, the company proposed a new modification, consisting of two cartridges. In terms of the degree of purification, they are inferior to three-level, but at a significantly lower price. They are recommended to be installed in city apartments in which water is supplied with preliminary purification.
It is better to install flow filters with three-level purification in autonomous water supply networks with water intake from wells, wells or open sources (ponds, lakes, rivers, etc.).
Atoll reverse osmosis filters
Reverse osmosis filtering devices are the most effective in terms of purifying water from a water supply system. Their distinctive feature is a perforated membrane that allows water molecules to pass through, but does not allow other substances, even dissolved ones, to pass through. It's all about the diameter of the holes in the membrane, which does not exceed 0.0001 mm.
The membrane tank itself is an addition to the flask filtration unit, which purifies water in three stages.
- Coarse filter, which uses a cartridge in the form of polypropylene fibers.
- Carbon cartridge responsible for pre-cleaning.
- Another carbon cartridge, the task of which is to bring the water purity to the highest possible degree.
After the cartridge device there is a reverse osmosis tank, which is divided into two parts by a membrane. The liquid enters one of the compartments, passes through the membrane holes under pressure, leaving all impurities on the inside. The latter are periodically flushed down the drain, with which the reverse osmosis tank is connected by a hose.
The manufacturer offers two more models. One is additionally equipped with a carbon-filled post-filter. Its task is to remove foreign tastes and odors of water. Such a liquid can be stored for a long time in storage tanks and accumulators without changing its physical and chemical characteristics.
In another, a mineralizer is installed, which saturates the purified water with minerals useful for humans. Such devices are marked with the letter "m" in the marking.
Reverse osmosis filter malfunctions
Unfortunately, a reverse osmosis filter is a device that reacts to the pressure inside the water supply network. If this parameter falls below 3 atm., The installation stops working correctly: the pressure drops, the performance decreases, and the water is not purified.
There are other malfunctions of the Atoll reverse osmosis filter:
- clogged cartridges filled with polypropylene fibers;
- the coal backfill is clogged.
The manufacturer offers spare parts that are sold in stores. These are cartridges of all varieties. Replacing them with your own hands is easy. The main thing is to strictly follow the instructions supplied with the device.
Rules and features of installation and maintenance
Atoll filter installation technology is no different from other brands. They are installed in the kitchen in a cabinet under the sink. The connections are made with flexible hoses. The main thing is not to confuse the latter. The water pipe is connected to a flask installation, a reverse osmosis tank with a tap installed on the kitchen sink.
There is no need to purchase accessories and products separately. The Atoll filter is fully completed by the manufacturer. Its delivery includes:
- the device itself;
- connecting hoses;
- faucet or mixer;
- shut-off valves in the form of a valve, which is installed before the filtering equipment;
- tee;
- a key made of plastic, which is used to open the flasks;
- fasteners.
The manufacturer adds a hydraulic accumulator to the filter kit. It raises the price of the device, but this reservoir is a necessary thing. With its help, a certain amount of pure water is accumulated. With the help of a hydraulic accumulator, the required fluid pressure in the water supply network is provided. The set together with a hydraulic accumulator is more often used in an autonomous water supply system powered by a pump with water intake from wells and wells.
Advantages and disadvantages
The advantages of Atoll filters are obvious. This is not only a high degree of water purification. The advantages of the device include ease of installation, easy maintenance, excellent design. Another advantage is replaceable cartridges. They do not need to be rinsed. The flask is opened with a plastic key, the used cartridge is pulled out, a new one is installed inside.
The disadvantages of all reverse osmosis filters are the same:
- slow liquid cleaning;
- high pressure is required in the water supply;
- when cleaning the membrane, water is consumed, which is discharged into the sewer;
- the membrane does not allow useful minerals to pass through.
Despite the decent cost of the devices and the disadvantages described above, Atoll filters are very popular. At the same time, experts give them high marks. The product is certified. Its service life depends on the quality of the installed membrane, which varies in the range of 3-5 years.
