The results of numerous laboratory studies have shown that well water is the most useful and cleanest source of drinking. If we talk about a well or a central water supply system, the pros and cons of each, undoubtedly, an autonomous water supply system will win.
The main features of water wells
There are several types of wells and each has its own individual characteristics:
- Filter source for sand. The depth of the watery layer reaches 30 meters, located on sandy soil. The service life does not exceed 15 years. To maximize the service life, it is necessary to properly carry out construction work and arrangement of the source. This type is much easier and more affordable to organize, but the well is capable of producing about 500 liters of water per day.
- The Abyssinian well has a depth ranging from 4-12 meters. The main difference from a conventional well is the construction methods. This requires driving a sharp pipe into the ground, which will prevent foreign objects (dust, dirt, insects, etc.) from getting inside. A suction pump is required to raise water to the surface.
- An artesian well is the most expensive way to conduct an autonomous water supply system in a country house or country house. In addition to expensive construction work due to the large depth of the source, a powerful submersible pump will be required. But these disadvantages are fully compensated by the service life and high quality of water.
It is better to give preference to the latter type of wells, but with proper construction and arrangement, the first two sources will serve the owners for 10-15 years.
Well pros and cons
Drilling and equipping a well or well undoubtedly has a large number of advantageous features, but do not forget about the disadvantages.
Advantages of your own water well:
- Purity of water, provided that the source is not located near industrial enterprises, drain pits, etc. The pipeline located in the mine is equipped with a special cover that prevents dust and dirt, small insects from entering it.
- Large volumes. The depth of the water layer, as a rule, is large, which ensures the intake of an almost unlimited amount of well water at all seasons.
- Ease of operation. If the water supply system is properly designed and arranged, the mechanism will work like a clock. There are no difficulties in use, the process is automated.
- Requires minimal maintenance. With proper installation of the equipment, the operating life of the pumping station reaches 10 years or more. It is only important to regularly carry out preventive measures.
- Long operational life. Depends on the quality of materials and equipment purchased in the store, as well as the depth of drilling. Observations have shown that the average well life reaches 50 years.
- The ability to install equipment not only on the personal plot, but also in the house. Recently, the latter option has been increasingly practiced, since it is not only convenient, but also beneficial due to the uselessness of insulating the water supply system.
- Ease of drilling. You can organize the source in any place the customer likes. It is easier to drill a sand hole than an artesian one, the difference lies in the depth of occurrence.
Having considered the advantages of a source on a personal plot, it is important to familiarize yourself with the disadvantages:
- Financial investments. If we talk about drilling a sand hole, this point can rather be attributed to the merits. The costs are reasonable, even if quality tools and equipment are preferred. But if we are talking about an artesian well, things are different here. You will need special drilling rigs, a pumping station or a submersible model of a water pump + pipes and other parts.
- Subsoil Law. For the arrangement of an artesian well at the site, a license and a permit for work are issued by the relevant authorities.
If you seriously approach the issue of arranging an autonomous water supply network, design and perform all the work, the well will not cause serious trouble for a long time.
