A water purification plant is not a luxury item, but the necessary modern equipment used in everyday life. Tap water contains a high concentration of sand, metal compounds and other impurities that are harmful to health. Installing filters allows you to purify water, but for high performance it is important to choose the right system and install it.
Types of water purification systems
It is advisable to maintain the filtration system in the following cases:
- Preventive cleaning at monthly intervals.
- The sump is full.
- The cartridge has reached the end of its life and its productivity is nearing zero.
One of the types of filters for coarse purification of running water is nozzles that are put on the tap.
Mesh equipment
Mechanical equipment is designed for rough purification of tap water. The system is equipped with a mesh, the mesh size ranges from 20-500 microns. As a rule, coarse filters have ergonomic dimensions.
Mesh filter systems are divided into groups:
- The self-cleaning system carries out all processes in an automated manner. The equipment independently cleans the mesh when clogged, the signal goes to one of the working units.
- Non-flushing system or sump. When the mesh gets corroded, it must be cleaned by hand. Carefully detach the filter from the pipe, remove the mesh and rinse.
Screen-type coarse cleaning plants have many advantages:
- easy installation, repair and maintenance;
- compact size;
- affordable cost.
For cold water, it is recommended to install enclosures made of durable plastic, and for hot water - metal. The latter are universal in their use.
Cartridge (cartridge) cleaning systems
The quality of filtration will depend on the state of the classic replaceable cartridge. This is the main structural element. As a rule, it is built into the case, made of high quality plastic or metal. The part is capable of retaining solid impurities, the size of which is 0.5-0.25 microns. It is recommended to install the equipment if the mesh filters cannot cope with the task.
The advantages of cartridge filters are that they are filled with activated carbon. This feature allows you to clean liquids from harmful impurities and chlorine. Other advantages of the equipment are high-quality cleaning and relatively low cost.
Pressure type filter
The design is large enough, it is a column filled with filtering components. Equipment items are manufactured from materials that are resistant to corrosion. Filtration of the liquid that has passed through the system reaches 30 microns.
The equipment is recommended to be installed in apartment buildings, an apartment or a house with a connected central water supply system, where the concentration of impurities, pathogenic bacteria and pathogenic microflora is quite high.
Installing filters
- Cleaning the filter is a procedure that is carried out regularly for the purpose of prevention. After the procedure, the seal is wound on the thread of the cover to prevent the likelihood of leakage in the future.
- The main filtering part should be at the bottom of the housing. The oblique filter can be installed vertically.
- It is important to shut off the water supply before installing the cleaning equipment. First, you need to check the status of the communications and make sure they are working properly.
- For ease of use, the equipment is attached to the wall using special clamps.
If desired, the water filter is made independently from scrap materials. But it is still recommended to give preference to purchased equipment.
Installation of mechanical cleaning equipment
Equipment for mechanical cleaning can have different shapes, structures, therefore, for the correct choice of installation, you need to carefully read the attached instructions for use, consult a specialist.
Installation algorithm:
- Find a suitable place. It should be secluded, inaccessible to children and animals.
- Make sure there is free space under the filter, which will allow you to service the equipment in the future. The optimal distance is 10 cm.
- Shut off the water.
- Cut out the part of the pipe where the filter will be installed.
- Install a shut-off valve that is included with the cleaning system.
- Attach the cover of the device, make sure that the parts are tightly connected and there are no leaks. If necessary, apply a special reel.
- Unpack the filter cartridge and lower it into the flask, attach it to the lid.
- Open the tap and check the functionality of the device.

Reverse osmosis system installation
The equipment is installed exclusively for the purification of cold liquids. The unit requires a separate tap for clean water. After shutting off the water supply, connect the valves that are included in the kit, and then the filter itself.
After installing all the parts, a special container is additionally connected for storing water. After installation, the system is flushed to remove chemical residues and contaminants. This requires filling the tank with purified water several times and draining it completely.
To avoid mistakes when installing a water treatment system, it is recommended to conduct a laboratory analysis of tap water. The results will allow you to select filter elements for specific purposes: deferrization, disinfection, removal of chloride compounds, etc. When choosing a mechanical filter, it is important to take into account the size of suspended particles. An improperly selected mesh will be useless or clog quickly.
