To prevent pollution from entering the hydraulic structure, and it is protected from rain, sunlight and freezing in winter, you can build a shelter - a house for a well. If properly set up, it will also protect the equipment from children and animals and make the water intake attractive and aesthetic.
Manufacturing material
You can create a shelter from various materials - wood, brick, metal or slate sheets, ondulin. Natural and artificial stone, ceramics, tiles, facing bricks are used as decorative finishes.
The most demanded building material is wood: aesthetic, environmentally friendly and durable. The construction of it will ideally fit into any site design. For the frame and roof, they take an edged board and a bar, and as a cladding - lining.
Another practical option is metal profile shelters. They are durable and practical, cheap and available in a wide range of colors. But if the winters in the region are cold, such houses need to be insulated.
Types of buildings
Structures are performed in various configurations.
- Canopy. The simplest type of construction. A canopy over a well shaft can be combined with a triangular roof to better protect the hydraulic structure from aggressive environmental influences.
- The roof is usually gable. If desired, you can choose any configuration - even rounded. The roof will reliably protect the hydraulic structure from external influences, debris and dirt. At the same time, it is easy and inexpensive to make it.
- Alcove. This type of shelter is suitable for regions with a mild climate, because it is difficult to insulate it. Outwardly, an openwork gazebo on racks made of wood or metal looks attractive. If the structure is closed, the door can be built at its base. Moreover, you can choose any shape - from a square to a triangle, octahedron or circle.
- Log house Such houses resemble fabulous houses and give the site a decorative effect. The roof can be asymmetrical or simple gable.
The dimensions of the shelter must match the dimensions of the water intake. A small canopy will not protect you from rain, snow and mud, and a voluminous “tower” will make the well operation difficult.
Preparatory work
The simplest and best option is a quadrangular frame house, sheathed with clapboard. It is crowned with a gable roof, on the slope of which a door is mounted for servicing the hydraulic structure. To create such a well shelter, you will need:
- plane;
- jigsaw;
- screwdriver;
- hacksaw;
- level;
- roulette.
It is better to choose a lining "for logs". It will give the structure the appearance of a log house. For decoration, you can use decorative trims. As frame racks, a regular beam of 50x50 mm is used. It and the lining are pre-treated with an antiseptic. To build a house faster, you should create a mini-scale diagram showing the dimensions of the structure.
Installation steps
First of all, the frame racks are installed - four corner ones, and four central ones. They are dug into pits, concreting for reliability. The height of the posts should be such that it is convenient to open the door in the roof of the structure. Make sure that the supports are in a strictly vertical position. It is necessary to control the position using a building level or a plumb line.
When the concrete hardens, the steps are as follows:
- Carry out the upper strapping of the posts with a bar of the same section. For fastening, metal corners and screws are used.
- Attach the beams from the supports to the central posts, which will form the basis of the roof.
- Connect the central supports to each other with another beam, resulting in a roof frame.
- On one side of the roof slope, attach two more beams from the upper strapping to the ridge, which will act as a door opening.
- Make a crate, and if you need an insulated house, fix a heat insulator between the slats.
- Fasten the lining to the crate with self-tapping screws.
- Create a purlins for the roof. You can cover it with ondulin or flexible tiles. In the latter case, moisture-resistant plywood sheets must be laid down.
A roof door in the form of a shield with reinforcement with a diagonal strip should be made of boards, covered with the same roofing material and installed in place. Metal hinges are used for hanging.
The final stage of construction is the coating of wooden surfaces with a protective varnish composition.
If there are logs or beams left over after the construction of the house, you can build a mini-blockhouse to cover the well. The principle of its construction is similar to the construction of the main building, only in miniature.
Arrangement of a well shelter will extend the life of the water intake unit and improve water quality.
